It's been almost a ten years since Apple first filed a patent to become mobile virtual multilevel operator (MVNO), yet Cupertino's plan can be reportedly still underway.
As outlined by Business Insider, Apple is confidentially conducting trials to set up its own MVNO service inside the U. S., and it is in conversations having European telecoms companies to create the service for the other side in the pond. This MVNO services would essentially make the Cupertino tech company its carrier, with new iphone 4 owners paying Apple directly for mobile or portable service and data plans.
Even though places confirmed to Company Insider that Apple is currently testing its MVNO, the report claims that it is a long-term project with the tech company. As outlined by Business Insider, it could take Apple at the very least five years in order to ink deals considering the telecom companies and carriers inside the U. S. and Europe just before launching its MVNO for the public. Apple first filed a patent to build this multi-carrier MVNO with 2006, and the item extended the obvious application in 2011.
Another recent rumor signaling that Apple is intent on launching its own network may be the launch of iCloud Message. This service, which will reportedly use Siri in order to transcribe voicemail into texting, will unlink users from having to rely on their carrier to access their stored voicemails.
